Juicer upgrade!

A HUGE thanks to Brooke's parents who brought in a juicer for us to borrow and a lot of fruit for us to squeeze.  We have been looking at how it is important to drink water to help us learn.  As a wider off-shoot we have been looking at where else we can find water and how much water (found in juice) we can find in fruits.  Have a look at our video below.  We had so much fun this afternoon!!!
There is more to come  - here is the first video

Cross Country practice

Hi there!

Today as part of our Inquiry  - we looked at how much juice (and water within the juice) we could find within some different fruit.  Tangelos had the most from what we looked at today.  Thanks to those of you who did some research on this as part of your homefun (Katy told us all about cucumber today.  It was great!)

Well we had a beautiful Autumn day today for Cross Country practice.  There was really some heat in the sun.  Have a look at these pictures.

Go for it Ethan! Look at the determination here.

More writing....

Hi - Fantastic work Room 9! Here are a few more.  We have had a few technical glitches (as they say!) Kyrus talked about the goal he has with his learning but then could not find his story.  When Brooke read hers out she meant to say she has been working on recording at least 2 sounds for each word.  You will see that she is writing a lot more than 2 words!!!!   A big 'thanks' for all of your comments on the blog.  We all really appreciate them.

Reflecting on our learning

Hi all - It was great to see many of you at the goal setting conferences.  Your involvement really is key to in helping the children achieve these.  My goal is to get children reflecting on what they have been learning and recording their stories on photo booth.  These two did this independently.  Well done Jaime and Hollie!

Writing

We have all been practising being more independent with our writing.  There are a number of ability levels in the class.  Some children are working on recording the starting sound of words (as they become familiar with these sounds) others are working on recording all of the dominant sounds.  Have a look at these videos!

Water Wonderland

Today we looked at the blog as a class.  Room 9 loved looking at the comments you have made.  Today we also had our water day.  Miss Groome learnt a valuable lesson about water balloons - don't try to fill them.  I was very wet before our water day event began.  Thanks to Elisa's Mum for coming to my rescue (she is  water balloon expert if ever you need one) and the other parents that helped out today.  I was really impressed with how quickly children got changed and managed themselves.  Fantastic!
