Swallows......

Can you keep a secret?  Room 10 has a swallow nesting in its cloak bay.  While there is  little bit of a problem  of the mess the mother is likely to make, we think this is outweighed by the learning opportunities such an experience can provide. When we went to have a look at the intricately made mud nest, we were thrilled to have the mother swallow over our heads  back into her nest.  Today we did some great writing from this.  Here are some examples of my favourite parts.  Our focus with this was using interesting verbs.

The little swallows said," I want my dinner!" The Mum swallow rushed to get the baby swallows some food.  She twirled and flipped and spun through the clouds.
By Samantha

The swallow is sitting on her eggs. Out of the nest, she does swirl and twirl all around.  By Alicia

The swallow flies fast through the loop the loop. Flip, the swallow flips again.  The swallow dances in the air.  By Sophie

The swallow spins, swirls turns and back flips in the air.  Straight down it goes.  Finally it flies back up to the sky.  By Joshua

The swallow twists and turns and makes a circle in the air.    By  Dylan P

The  swallow darts left and right. It swirls and twirls, flits and flips, turns and twists and loops the loop.
By Hollie

The swallow Mum swirls and twirls.  Then it turns left and right. It brings back food to the baby swallows.  It swoops in the clouds.  By Keelyn

It swirls and twirls.  It flies out of sight.  It twirls away.  She dives down and back to her nest where she has a sleep.  By Jaime

  1. Very descriptive writing today Room 3. I can see in my mind the swallow flitting and flipping and dancing in the air when I read your writing. How cool that your teacher lets you have such lovely experiences to write about.
