We're going on a snail hunt......

Hi

We had a look again at the garden we had been allocated  today and decided there was an unused one in a better sunny position.  So we began the process of digging and transplanting our silver beet again. We are now next to Room 8's  and Mrs Notley beautiful silver beet.  We promise Mrs Notley, that our snails (discussed below) were not released anywhere near your plants.  It did not even cross our minds.

We relocated our garden.  Joshua pulls out a piece of unwanted grass.

As part of our Inquiry and looking at gardens and pests today we looked at snails. We did some writing on this.  (I will post these soon) 

Let the snail hunt begin. 

Hi - I have been a bit slow in putting this on.  This is something we did at the end of last term with one of the reading groups.  We all enjoyed eating the outcome of this experience.

Dad
My dad calls me 'Poppet'. We like to feed the ducks.  We laugh when they get water in their eyes.  Dad looks like he has a little bit of hair but he has a lot of hair.  He goes to work and he wears a light blue  tee-shirt.  It has patterns and they are grey.

In the Frost
My dog has got snow on his nose.  The grass is frosty.  It is covered in ice. The flowers are icy and frosty.

Scarface Claw
Scarface Claw is fat.  He has little legs.  He likes to fight with the dogs.  His little whiskers twitch.

Skipper
Skipper has curly hair on his tummy.  It is very soft.  He chases the birds.  The birds fly faster.  The family keeps Skipper outside but when it is rainy they say "Inside Skipper!"

Dad
My dad calls me 'Monkey' because I am a monkey.  I swing from bar to bar. I slip and my dad catches me.  My dad lifts me back to the monkey bars. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

Descriptive Writing

Hi! I have been really pleased with the writing in our class this week.  The focus with most of the children shown in these videos has been to give more detail - so rather than just giving one sentence about an idea  - to elaborate and give some more information.  There has also been some lovely vocabulary coming through.  Will post some other ones soon.  WELL DONE Room 9!

Drama

As I mentioned we have been doing some drama in Room 9.  Here is a video of the children acting out a story where elephants travel through a jungle - meeting a few dangers along the way (including some crocodiles that would not stay in their river!)  It is very hard to listen to the sound of your voice.  Next time I will get one of our skilled readers to read out the story!

Road Safety

Last week  we were lucky enough to have a visit from Constable Glenys.  It never hurts to have the road safety message reinforced by some one else (especially a police officer).  The children really enjoyed having the Constable in,  and participating in these activities.  

It is great to see how children build on each other's ideas. At the start of our conversation (see video milk below) most of the children shared ideas about farmers hand milking cows and bottling the milk for the supermarkets.  At the end, see the video here, we had discussed the milk truck and the machines that suck the milk from cows.
